We offer a vast variety of workshops at The Knit Studio, ranging from knitting and crochet to sewing and spinning.

Current Workshops May

Learn how to make unique ceramic buttons and brooches with Jenny Morgan £40 

Saturday, 6 May 12.30pm-3.30pm

We are very excited to be welcoming a local potter here in May!
Explore your artistic side using a variety of slip decorating techniques including scraffitto, inlaying, slip trailing and impressing with textured fabrics and other objects. Jenny will bring along examples of finished products for inspiration. Using coloured slips on terracotta you will be able to create a selection of buttons and brooches.  After the workshop your buttons will be fired, glazed if you choose, and delivered to The Knit Studio for collection.

Crochet Club for help, advice and inspiration

Tea, coffee, cake plus the invaluable advice of our in-house-tutor-slash-shop-owner extraordinaire Anne Makepeace.

Learn to Crochet with Anne Makepeace - £35

Through this workshop you will learn the basics of crochet, covering a number of different techniques. No previous skill required. Note that the image is used for advertising purposes only.

Pom Pom Madness! with Katya Frankel £15 

Saturday, 3 June 1pm-3pm (flexible)


Whether the bigger the better or the impeccable minis is your moto when it comes to pompoms – this workshop is for you! We will cover a number of ways to create beautiful pompoms and learn how to sculpt them to perfection.

The fee includes a pompom maker of your choice - let us know if you have a size preference when you book and let's make some POMPOMS!

Making Felt Flowers with Sue Gill £40 

Saturday, 10 June 12.30pm-3.30pm


During this workshop you will learn how to make felt flowers, starting with basic felting techniques, assembling and creating something unique and colourful! There'll be lots of examples to inspire you and to showcase some of the ways felt flowers can be used.


You'll make two very different flowers which will introduce several key ideas

·         Layering colour to produce the type of felt you want

·         Making very fine, delicate felt and thicker, chunkier felt

·         Adding other fibres, yarns and objects such as beads into the felt while you're making it to add texture and effect

·         Moulding the felt to the shape you want

·         Layering the components together to create your flowers


Materials: All materials will be supplied but you are very welcome to bring little bits of yarn, fibre and any beads or textiles (like lace) that you'd like to incorporate into your flower.

Please also bring a hand or beach towel.

Bookings and payments

  • The cost pp per workshop varies between £20 and £60.

  • Please make initial inquiries by ringing 07540 277764 or email to - you will be sen details of how to pay - or call in to fill out a booking form.

  • Deposit is required to secure a place.


  • Maximum number for each Full Day workshop – 10 places, minimum – 4 places.

  • Maximum number for each Half Day workshop – 10 places, minimum – 2 places.

Confirmation and cancellation

  • Bookings can only be confirmed on receipt of the deposit.

  • For cancellations up to a fortnight before the event, the full fee will be refunded if cancelled by the attendee.

  • For cancellations less than a fortnight before the event, 50% of the fee will be reimbursed if cancelled by the attendee.

  • We are unable to reimburse the fee for cancellations less than a week before event.

  • If the event is cancelled by the organisers, the full fee will be reimbursed or an alternative workshop date offered.


  • Light refreshments are provided throughout the day. For a Full Day Workshop, please bring your own lunch.

Other Information

  • There will be discounts for some supplies sold at some workshops. This is indicated where applicable.

  • Please bring an open mind, a small sewing kit, the required needles or hooks stated in the workshop description and any yarn you particularly want to knit with. Some materials will be supplied, unless otherwise stated.

  • The workshop fee covers a contribution to the running costs of The Knit Studio, refreshments during the course of the day, some materials and tutor fees. Travel and accommodation costs are not included.

  • At least five days prior to the workshop, a materials' list and guide to the workshop content with aims will be posted or emailed to all attendees.
